Ubisoft has today revealed that it is bringing out a new 2D Rayman title by the name of Rayman Origins. Following the announcement of Raving Rabbids: Travel in Time, the French company has lifted the lid on what most fans were really hoping for, a new Rayman adventure that appears to follow the loose-limbed character's history. Platforms and a release date have yet to be revealed, but it was announced that only a small team of five worked on the intriguing project, including Michel Ancel, and it will be released in episodic chunks.

Check out the first trailer below:

What are your thoughts on the style taken for this new Rayman adventure?

I'm a bit sceptic as to the choice of 2D. I know a lot of players didn't like the shift to 3D, but i still LOVED Rayman 2 on N64. I still have to beat Rayman 3 on GameCube though.

I hope it turns out well, joypad in hands.

Rayman 3 is really easy to complete. I think the jump to 3D was a good move, because you could explore more areas. Plus the graphics for Rayman 2 for the N64 were just amazing. Not so great on the DS though. But I have a feeling if it is going back to the first Rayman games roots, I can see potential.

Are we sure this is on Wii? Because nowhere I've seen has confirmed any platforms, and Wikipedia only mentions XBLA and PSN...

Still, it's great that there's finally a new Rayman on the way. I guess Ubisoft aren't quite as pure evil as I thought. They're now only mostly evil.

One day I will be a real life anime.

Why would they say it has been revealed for Wii and then it wont be. That would seem a bit silly on their end.

Pretty awesome tbh, I haven't played a proper Rayman game since Rayman 2 and I loved that. Does look quite promising Smilie

If you managed to complete the whole game I will give you a medal. It was one of the hardest games in the series. But I think it is definately the best platformer next to Mario.

I've amended the story. It's only been announced as Rayman with HD graphics...but no platform(s) specifically. It could be like Sonic 4, coming to all three. Will have to wait and see.

Thank God for this blessing! I believe real gaming is coming back.

Galaxy is amazing, games like Rayman and Mega Man are finally going back to there roots, Sonic might not be bad anymore and we aren't going to have people consider video games to be only stuff like Halo and COD. (even though they are good games, not all good games have to be fps)

I'm so happy for this. Thanks Ubisoft, you aren't considered Ubisuck to me anymore. Smilie

Mario, Mega Man and Rayman FTW!!!
