E310 Media | Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo 3DS on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

To make things that little bit sweeter for the announced 3DS line-up, the new console will be treated to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

The console is already getting its fair share of ports and remakes, good ones at that, and Nintendo will now be adding the N64 fan-favourite to the growing list. Arguably the best entry into the The Legend of Zelda series of adventure games featuring the Hylian hero, Link, Ocarina of Time has been revisited several times, be it as featured in The Master Quest or merely in its Virtual Console form. Now, though, Nintendo is bringing kicking and screaming into the world of 3D.

Image for E310 Media | Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo 3DSThe first 3D Zelda game revolutionised both the series and genre, through a tight control system, puzzles and a lengthy story. Over ten years later, it looks like players will be able to re-experience the classic on the 3DS. How things will work this time round, however, is currently unknown, as is what extras will be included.

Oh, man. I hope this is true. If it is true then Nintendo will make a bomb with sales, and then more money with what I hope will be MM released. That would be the best thing in the history of Nintendo.

I don't really think that they need to be re-released on the 3DS, but I'm sure that many people will be happy. I still replay OoT and MM on the N64 every once in a while.

I have the N64, vitual console and Gamecube versions of this already. But if this is a complete update of the game, then I may buy it again. Smilie Smilie

Rerelease this on the wii not the 3DS,

This might be the 3DS's version of Super Mario 64 DS, and if it is...

I will be smitten with joy. That was a great remake for the DS. I just hope it has good touch screen controls. Unlike Rayman DS.

yawn, would prefer an original one. Somthing similer to the current ds entries.

An OoT remake for launch would be simply awesome. Hope it's true.

Nah. Though it'd be nice to see OoT with TP graphics, there have been enough console re-releases of OoT. A portable edition would be really nice. ^_^

Miyamoto has officially confirmed it Smilie

I hope it isn't a direct port and they end up changing things around a la Master Quest. Or maybe even combine OoT and MM into one game. That would be amazing.

It's at least an updated port, if it is one. There are already visible graphical differences.

Nintendo's Developer Roundtable confirmed the validity of Ocarina of Time 3DS, and they also mentioned about making the Water Temple much less irritating by regulating use of the Iron Boots - which leaves me with the impression of a Touch-screen oriented equip menu.

...Damnit Nintendo! As great as Kid Icarus looks, it isn't the only 3DS game worthy of an official trailer, give us one for Oot3DS as well!

I'm not sure I like that the Water Temple has changed. They changed far too much in Mario 64 DS, and it lost some of its charm. I sure hope they don't change too much of this. Smilie

Maybe a new dungeon? Smilie Gonna be great to play a proper Zelda on a Handheld. Been too long since Minish Cap. Hourglass and Spirit Tracks were too shallow.

A thousand times this. I keep almost forgetting a handheld Zelda as great as Minish Cap was made in the last decade.

Just the thought of playing a console game in a car or on a plane somewhere really, really excites me!

I'm pretty sure the changes they were talking about was having the status screen on the touch screen, to eliminate going back and forth from the pause menu to take the iron boots on and off. That's what they said at the roundtable, anyway.

Water temple wasn't that hard! Great news Smilie

Minish Cap wasn't good--it felt like a watered-down version of a typical 2-D Zelda game. I much prefer Spirit Tracks or any of the older GB Zeldas.

This OOT remake looks fantastic. I can't wait to see how much more immersive Hyrule feels in 3D.

I agree: Water temple wasn't that hard.
I would prefer this remake to be on 3DS, I want a version to carry around and to be **3D**, you must mot forget this small detail.
I have stopped me from downloading OoT on Virtual Console, as I already own it in 3 versions (N64, Cube with Windwaker and the Club Nintendo bonus disc). But I would get it on 3DS.

Hell 3DS already got me more excited then Zelda Skyward Sword! Well ...almost. But I will get it on release date, I am sure! (seems I have to live with my DS phat for a couple of months longer then I thought - no DSi big for me then...).

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

You're insane mister guest person. How could you think Minish Cap is watered down but like one of the most watered down Zelda games in the franchise? (The DS games are extremely short and simple compared to the other 2D/3D games...)
