Is homebrew even worth it, yet?
Homebrew has been worth it the whole time, it just depends what you want to use it for.
Importing games? Probably the main reason people want to use it.
Using cheat codes and hacks for games? (For example, putting new characters and stages into Brawl)
It also lets you do other random neat things, like change the appearance of your Wii menu, allow more music support for games, and etc etc.
Change the appearance how? That wasn't available when I had it, that I know of.
I don't have any reason to import games, really. I understand why people would want to, but I've never noticed a significant enough difference to want to spend the time doing it.
I had Ocarina, and there were some neat cheats, but again, nothing that made it worth it, to me. What kind of characters can be added to Brawl? That also wasn't around when I had Homebrew channel. And what do you mean by 'more music support for games?'"
My new warranty expires I think at the end of next month, so I might look back into Homebrew Channel. The first time around, it ended up being more hassle than anything else; I just couldn't seem to get anything to work right. There were all these weird glitches; like I said, I never successfully got a DVD to work (nor do I need to, now; I have a DVD player and an Xbox 360 right next to my Wii) When using music player, if I pressed a certain button (I think it was down, or something) it would crash the system, some ROMs crashed (I got through Pokemon Yellow just fine, but I wanted to try a few GBA games that I have but can't find, like Fire Emblem) and they would take a LONG time to load, and then just crash after a few minutes of playing.
I also hated not being able to shut the thing down. I had to hold my power button down for five seconds after using any homebrew app, even just the homebrew channel itself (which, now that I think about it, only seemed to have a successful launch rate of about 75%; the rest of the time, it'd just freeze up on the screen with all of the bubbles.)
I've heard about things like having custom operating systems, but not really sure why I'd ever need that. Same with USB loaders, and such.
I've tried to find a list of must-have apps for it, but I actually wasn't able to really find anything. Any reccomendations? I think what I had was some GBA emulator, Ocarina, DVDx, and a music player (gecko, or something? Or something about a dragon, haha.)
Actually, can 4.3 be hacked, yet? Becuse I've already updated, so it may not matter, haha.
