Sonic the Hedgehog Turns 19 Today on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Everybody's favourite blue hedgehog turns a youthful 19 today after almost 2 decades of high speed, precision platforming.

Since zipping onto SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive on 23rd June 1991, Sonic has seen a string of popular sequels, including the always-talked-about 16 bit trilogy and the marmite Adventure series. He's even played sports, driven cars and raced a green bird using a hoverboard.

Nintendo fans can grab a slice of Sonic's adventures with Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and Sonic Colours due later this year.

Well Sonic, we had our ins and our outs, our ups and our downs, but through it all, I still love you. I always have faith, no matter what ridiculous thing you do next, you will eventually come back out on top again...

But if you so much as F*** UP Sonic The Hedgehog 4, then I'm kicking your ass to the curb for good and I will reluctantly crawl back to Crash... Lord forbid, DO NOT MAKE ME DO THAT!

I'll always find some enjoyment in his games. Even Shadow the Hedgehog was somewhat entertaining though I could only bring myself to complete it 5 out of 10 times. Will eventually unlock the main final ending.... maybe. Smilie

Same here really, even though me of the past managed to get all the endings, me of the present wouldn't have the patience.

Heck, the idea of finishing Shadow's Story on Sonic 2006 is enough to make me cringe a little.
But I can get some enjoyability out of most of his modern games. Smilie

PS. What's up with the reader score for Sonic 4? >> it has 7 votes and it's at like 1/10...

Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SONIC!! Smilie I loved Sonic 2, Rush, and Unleashed (I've never played the Adventure series...T_T) and I hope that Sonic 4 and Colours are just as much a joy to play! Happy Birthday to Doctor Robotnik/Eggman, too! Smilie

You may not be my favorite, but I can still tell for 19 years, you have kept a decent fanbase that shows great support and faith in you. Maybe one day it will payoff and get me playing one of your newer games as well. Happy 19th Birthday.

Enough with these "Sonic has turned # years old!" news items. They did it at the 10th year, the 15th, and now the.. 19th? Sonic has done anything that great since he was four or five, anyway. He went heavy on the liquor and whores, and hasn't been the same since.
