Goldeneye Wii Screens, Video - 3DS Version Hoped for on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Activision has released a batch of new screens and a trailer for the upcoming Goldeneye 007 Wii edition. Could there be a 3DS version?

The currently Wii-exclusive game is now shown in a little more detail, with Bond going head on with some familiar looking faces in some slightly less familiar locations. However we do have the guard enjoying the morning paper on the bog, dam leaping and split-screen multiplayer complete with nifty blood splatter effect.

Whilst we're drooling, or in some cases cringing, over the remake on Wii, Activision are pondering whether the franchise might work in 3D on Nintendo's new portable.

According to CVG, the game's executive producer Julian Widdow revealed that although there currently aren't any plans, "we would all love to think that GoldenEye may make it onto the 3DS."

Reminds me a lot of those EA games like Nightfire. *Cringe* - weirdly the screens look a lot more appealing than the video imo. Hmmmm

screens look quite nice, wouldn't mind a 3ds version aswell :d

I hope that if they do bring it to the 3DS that you can do the multiplayer between the two systems. I HATE the thought of having the games be system specific...

Don't be greedy Activision! Smilie

I wouldn't mind this on DS but the controls would be murder to play and the online could very well suck. But if it sells well then it could have a chance to be released on 3DS. It looks just like the original but with Daniel Craig as the actor and not Pierce Brosnan.

S3TC - S3 texture compression. It's a technology I bought for my pc in a dodge viper card just before it wasn't available anywhere anymore. I learned later nintendo had licensed this technology, though I'm not sure that it was the only reason for it disappearing from the graphic card technology market.

What's so special about it, is that textures - legendary for their heavy weight for a system to process - are being compressed and decompressed much more efficiently, causing the system to require much less power to render the same quality of visuals. Nintendo also uses a layered technology system for textures that few developers seem to really use. A developer can add different layers of textures and let one shine through the other to create special effects on surfaces that are in reality just a plain surface. Doing it right causes you to see much more depth and vibrant stuff than just a plain flat surface.

As with all technology though, there's always a downside - in nintendo's case, it is probably the developers not being experienced enough in utilizing its full potential. And, mind you - where compression is enabled, there is always some quality loss. However, the s3 way was very very good, and when it causes you to be over 8 times more efficient in horsepower, you know what to choose for the better visuals Smilie

Well, that's all I remember - correct me if my history is wrong, people?

Metroid Prime Hunters, I thought the controls for that were great.

I never understood why people were against the control set up for FPS on DS. Metroid was great. It got a little fiddly with the HUD system but apart from that I thought It was a tight and precise system.

FPS on DS was great. With the updated graphics, processor, 3D.. FPS would be fucking awesome. Smilie
