Mario Party Series in Danger? on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo has revealed some interesting tidbits about Mario/Wii Party, and how the future of the Mario Party series could be in danger.

According to NeoGAF, the original team behind the long-running Mario Party series was a joint venture between both Nintendo and Hudson known as Monegi. More recently lead staff who worked on Mario Party have departed the team and are now under NdCube.

NdCube originally started as a subsidiary Nintendo developer, and since then has been bought and expanded near Nintendo's Japan offices, considered more like an R&D division.

With Wii Party taking centre stage, and possibly becoming more popular than the original Mario Party concept, it's likely Nintendo may put the series on hold whilst shifting focus on the Wii/Mii ideal.

The series could continue with a more in-house approach, perhaps new talent and fresh ideas injected into the concept. Would you be interested in a 9th Mario Party game?

I only ever played Mario Party 4 which was great fun though the board part of the game was extremely slow. Wii Party looks a lot of fun and seems like something my family could all enjoy. Smilie

To me after Mario Party 4 was the last in the series which was actually awesome. They went downhill from 5 and onwards imo. Their still all fun games but they just didn't have the same feel after 4.

I enjoyed playing Mario Party. (1-7) They were awesome when you had a bunch of people in the room. Plus many other companies tried to follow suit after the first Mario Party.
There was Crash Bash, which was decent, and that GOD AWFUL Sonic Shuffle. (utter shite)

Well ive missed out on the first eight installments and the handheld versions so think ill survive. Might pick up wii party though as IGNs hands on paint it a good picture

4 and 5 were great fun when I played with a group of friends! It would be a bummer if it went away, but ah well...
