This looks fantastic, but I still hate we have to use the D-pad. *shudder*

Sooooooooo gonna buy.

I LOVE the nes controller setup, btw. This game is going to be awesome.

edit: btw, it's how I play brawl too. And believe it or not, how I win many matches. The wii controller really is a brilliant piece to retro it out on Smilie!

I like more then 8 directions and being able to move at different speeds.
You might well be a better player, but that does not make a D-pad in any way superior.

i dont think the dpad controle will be bad, i mean they have obviously designed the game around it, your not going to need mario galaxy style platforming thats needs fine movements.
Most of the areas seem to be be confined to corridors moving left and right or forwards and backward plus you have the dodge move to get around enemy attacks.

oh, I'm positive it will be just fine for exactly that reason. They will know how the player can move, ensure the difficulty and placement of the landscape matches that, and playtest it to death.

But (imho) designing the game to fit around a restriction of a basic obsolete game technology doesn't really benefit the game. If you read the Iwata Asks they did, they seemed almost proud of the choice :?

I just dont like it when they chuck about words like "simple" and "accessible" to justify choices like this.

Actually the D-Pad works perfectly with the game after playing the demo myself, and nothing feels awkward, looking forward to playing the whole game

If the D-Pad was bigger like the Classic Controller then I wouldn't mind that much but the Wii Remotes D-pad is too small and quite uncomfy, even for 2D games so I know already that I won't like the setup.

The game itself will probably still be pretty good but I just wish they'd have given us a choice. I can easily see how to map the controls to the Nunchuck and Wii remote together.

hmmm i never felt the wiiremote dpad was too small, and i and lots of my friends have played tons of 2d stuff with it never felt that was an issue *shrug*

Truth is Nyko's Wii Remote with it's larger D-Pad, would play better with this game.

Playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii, for more than an hour, made my thumb sore.

It's sharp edges dig into my skin.
