Stylish Metroid: Other M TV Advert on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo has released the US advert for Metroid: Other M on Wii. Due out on 31st August, 2010 in North America, and early September in Japan, the Tecmo/Team Ninja co-developed project has been impressing media around the world since initially being unveiled and is on the cusp of finally hitting retail.

Now Nintendo of America has unleashed a very stylish TV advertising campaign that will no doubt impress viewers and, with any luck, lure them into making Metroid: Other M far more of a success than Metroid Prime Trilogy was.

Check out the video below:

What are your thoughts on this style of advert? Could it convince people to take the Wii more seriously?

Is that some live action!!!? That makes me really want to see a live action Metroid movie now. Smilie

DO IIIIIT!!

Avoid Games Like the Plague, productivity++

It's a shame the game won't be quite as stylish or moody - kind of like the Gears of War adverts.

BTW, when in the Metroid time frame is this game set? Right after Super Metroid, but before the Prime series?

It's set right after Super Metroid and before Metroid Fusion. The Prime games all fit in between Metroid and Metroid II.

All that live action did is make me want a wii with better horse power and HD capabilities.

It's still packed with fantastic atmosphere throughout, from what I've played at previous events.

I'm looking forward to this more than I did any of the Prime games.

You guys can't even begin to fathom my excitement for this game....If it has metroid on it, call me a whore Smilie

Its nice to see a Nintendo game with what looks to be a lot of effort put into the story. Possibly the first since Eternal Darkness?

I'm skeptical gameplay will be as fluid as Metroid Corruption though. Also, the environments dont look as diverse, but that could just be the trailers.

Makes you nostalgic watching some of those past scenes, like with the wittle baby Metroid~ The presentation is done epicly; referring back to the roots of the game, as well as showing some backstory, is a sneaky way of getting people lured into the new take on the series. I still can't waaait D=

I know there's been deeper stories than when the 'Cube gave that one out...

Even though Team Ninja appears to be pulling out all the stops in presentation, it IS still a Metroid game. Sure, there'll be more voice work than usual, but I won't be placing my expectations TOO high for the level of depth the story will contain.

Metroid has more been about the series as a whole rather than just the individual stories, which can be seen in this trailer as Samus walks down memory lane, so to speak~

I think that this game will be the best story driven game Nintendo has ever made. My main reason for this is the CGI cutscenes. When you finish the game, you can watch all the cutscenes put together, so it's pretty much a movie. $50 for a game and a movie's a pretty good price if you ask me.

Id still much rather have FMA then FMV. (total seamless consistency is possibly then, and imho I prefer that to having more poly's or higher AA in cut-scenes).
The in-game graphics are good enough for me.

Has there? Because I cant think of any of hand from Nintendo.
I mean, some of the Mario RPGs (especially superstar saga) have had really nice comic writing.(as well as good translation). But I'm not sure about plots/overall storys from Nintendo.

Great ad. Well done to Nintendo on this one. I also love the music. I hope there's more brilliant music like this in the game.

Can. Not. Wait.

Let me just say that because of this ad, I went to Amazon and bought the game. Now I was going to buy it anyways, but the ad compelled me to go and buy it right now.

Freakin' Awesome. I have never had an ad affect me that way. Something about the Super Metroid references.

Being a family man, I don't have time for games but still try to play the Metroid and Zelda titles. My daughter is only 2 so she has awhile before her initiation.

True. But that only means the inevitable sequel will be on the next nintendo console which will hd'em-up.

It doesn't make this any less desirable though. Me want!

For some reason, I'm still not sold on the gameplay, and I don't care about story. But if it gets stellar reviews, then I'll pick it up in a few weeks.

It's the true successor in the Super Metroid-->Metroid Fusion-->Metroid: Zero Mission line, so I simply CANNOT wait Smilie

Bring it on Sakamoto-san Smilie

Yup, on the third.

03/09/10 is when Other M shall land in Europe.
I can't believe they actually made this, I didn't think Nintendo were really into live action ads not based around casuals playing their Wii/DSi in IKEA anymore.

I'd say the odds of me getting this game have gone up significantly...introspective samus is intriguing.

Well, Nintendo has always said that they are all about surprises. No expected them to make 3D gaming without glasses, or making motion controlling, or even make awesome commercials like this. BTW, day one purchase for me! Smilie

Actualy, they did a short half-live action add for Metroid Prime;

Also, they have had live action adverts for some of the Zelda's. (from the scary bad one done as rap to the reasonably good one for majoras mask)

It's alright. She needs bigger breasts though, poor Samus! We need a nice juicy pair of fun bags XD
