Spector Wants to do More with 3DS on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Warren Spector, the mastermind behind Disney's forthcoming Wii game Epic Mickey, was quizzed on the Nintendo's 3DS.

Whilst Spector is keen to work with Nintendo's unique portable, even more so than at E3, he feels the need to do more than "Oh look, there’s a crate between me and my target", but he has no idea what. He wants six months to a year to really go deep with the hardware and try to do something a little different.

"Any developer who’s saying, 'Oh yeah, I’m working on a 3DS title and I know how to do it. I'm making a flight sim where it looks like you’re really flying,' it’s like, OK, you haven’t thought hard enough."

Anyone who claims Epic Mickey is "generic platformer", quite frankly knows fuck all about the game, or videogames in general.

Epic Mickey, as well as having strong platform sections (which are designed around the paint and thinner mechanics), also feature strong RPG elements which resemble that of a certain game called Diablo. Spector has created a game that attempts to merge genre's into one seamless action adventure experience.

The paint and thinner mechanics, as well as bringing in unique gameplay possibilities in action sections, also have wide spread ramifications on events that take place in the game. Your usage of them effect your own -unique- experience of the game. This is done in various ways according to Spector.

The game gives the player the power to create and destruct at will, like no other game of this type has allowed before. The choices you make when doing so will directly impact your experience of the game.

Also, for that mater, The Wii doesn't even have that many good 3d platform games.
