Sonic Dons a Torch in Lost Labyrinth Footage

SEGA have official unveiled footage of the revamped second act in Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Lost Labyrinth, and the mine cart is dead.

The new video demonstrates a nifty new mechanic: the torch. Previously revealed on SEGA of Japan's website, with the nifty source of light Sonic will be venturing into almost pitch-black caverns. Limited visibility and a load of devious obstacles are set in your path. Light the way and even set off explosives mounted on large blocks to uncover secret areas and essential time-saving shortcuts!

According to IGN the dreaded tilt your controller to navigate a rather tricky mine-cart has been dumped on the iPhone version, with the console editions having short, nippy rides on the mine-cart instead of spending a whole five minutes in agony.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is due out this fall.

I saw the mine cart level and it was beyond atrocious. The camera was terrible as was the control. I'm happy they took it out, and besides everyone knows that DK has the best mine levels.

Looks as if they added some old school sound effects from the Genesis.

    Good call Sega. Smilie

Just make sure Sonic keeps his trap shut and this game might be on the plus side for the sound department.

Mario, Mega Man and Rayman FTW!!!

Thank god they cleaned up the animations. THe first demo and sonic looked slow and stupid. He looks cool and fast now.

Looking a lot better than before, improved (imo) animations and tighter mechanics. Really hope they sort out that force-homing attack thing after running up ramps.

This is looking much better and I'm actually much more excited for it now. They should change it so that Sonic stays in spinball mode after coming off ramps though.
