3DS Due November 22 in the US? on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Retailer Reports are suggesting that Nintendo will release the new console in North America this November 22nd.

According to an unconfirmed post on Nintendo3DS Blog, US retailer Gamespot have added the hardware to its catalogue with a November 22nd release date. Accompanying the new hardware are entries for 18 games and accessories. Pre-orders are said to be open from September 29th.

Nintendo have kept quiet about the new system except for a release window within the next six months or so. However the Japanese giant will will be disclosing details in a conference taking place next week.

With the proposed date two days away from the rumoured Japanese release could there be some truth in this?

I'm so excited by the 3DS. I want it NOW! haha. There are going to be so many brilliant games on it and I think it'll become my new favourite console.

I've still got so many DS games to catch up with though. Smilie

Does anyone know if the games on the 3DS is region locked? I was gutted when they decided to region lock the DS games when the DSi came out.

? All of my American games play OK on my DSi.

When I first got my original DS it was one of the first DS's in the country, pre UK release and Nintendo suplied me with the American version of Super Mario 64DS. So if they had region locked games I'd be pretty miffed, as they suplied me with it. I've bought a few American games since and they all play fine. Are games released after a certain date region locked?

If this is the case, then I think it could be an late January early February. But I might be wrong. Here's hoping I am not.Smilie

Games with DSi-specific features are region locked, e.g. Sonic Classic Collection and Pokémon Black/White. They play on any region DS(Lite) but not DSi.

Can anyone find the list of 18 games? I wanna know some launch titles. Smilie

Thanks Ikana. Now I know what your talking about! Smilie

I so hope it's a pre Chistmas release, but I doubt it. It's more likely to be some time around February I'd guess.

I hope Nintendo do what they did with the DS and let club Nintendo members get it pre-release with some demo games and other extras. I got the original DS from club Nintendo and got Super Mario 64DS, a demo of Wario Ware, a demo of Metroid and a T-shirt! I'd love them to do something like that for 3DS.

That would be awesome. Though it'd ruin my chances of decent grades at the end of this semester, having it before christmas would be great. I can spend my christmas gloating to friends whilst back in the UK.

A pre-christmas release would surely mean more successful launch sales - so this surely makes sense right?

I hope so.

Ugh Nintendo!!!!! This, Kirby, and DKC are coming out so soon from now. I still haven't even started Metroid Other M. Ever since college started, the only game I've played is Yoshi's Island. I guess I'm now in the real life Smilie

Well, Gamestop always puts placeholder dates for software/hardware, so don't take this as a leak, but an estimate. However, this may indicate that the 3DS is most likely going to hit NA before Christmas.

Sounds plausible.

Quick nitpick: "Gamespot" is a videogame related e-magazine. I think the retailer in question is "Gamestop."

While this is true, in the time that I worked there, I never saw them leave blank spaces for accessories, before. That, and the announcement being days away, and this is sounding pretty legitimate.
But you're right, despite being the top videogame retailer in the U.S., Gamestop is actually pretty rarely privy to information that isn't available to the general public.

So let me get this right, if I imported the 3DS from States and when it launches in Europe next year, would the 3DS games in Europe work with the NA 3DS? Or would I have to buy the games from America?

I am not sure if the US ones would region free. You might have to some research into that matter. But why not just wait until the EU release and then you will know for sure that it is region free with other DS games. I wouldn't go for anything rash just yet, because you might end up with a console that will not play EU games.
