Wii Remote Plus Confirmed as "Real" on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Update: Although Nintendo have not announced anything officially, speaking to Eurogamer today, it was confirmed as "real", but there is nothing to announce yet.

Original story:

First shown off many moons ago at E3, and given a vague release date of this Summer, Nintendo's FlingSmash didn't turn up on the doorstep of stores or sellers anywhere. A possible reason for this delay, and what will do doubt be a key selling attribute, may have been unwittedly given in a Gamestop boxart update;

Image for Wii Remote Plus Confirmed as "Real"

The image is a little blurry, but the asthetics of the sole Wii Remote look to be the same, with a curved bit of writing on the bottom to signify the Motionplus ability built in. The image has been taken down from the Gamestop listing, which might say that this Remote could have been one of Nintendo's announcements on the 29th this month.

No word has been given on whether this bundle will make it across other continents, but with FlingSmash requiring the add-on, as Wii Sports Resort did before it, it looks likely.

These just have to be bundled with Skyward Sword. I'd get one even though I already have a M+.

Yea, it's a likely scenario. Cool looking game, I just hope the controls are solid now, with Nintendo's involvement they should be.

Finally! Built-in WM+ will be very nice to have. I might get one for Zelda.

If I knew this was coming out, I wouldn't have got MotionPlus with Wii Sports Resort. Having separate accessories is one of my hatreds.

Yep exactly SirLink SkyWard Sword is definitely one game that is crying out for this new remote. Nintendo and their bloody accessories. If they had released this in the first place maybe we have more support! LOL

unlikely. Developers/publishers are mostly just terrible at making motion control games.
Gesture-mapping is what they think its all about still.

Was considering buying a new Wiimote anyway, so if true, this is great news. But with the Wiimote with the Motion Plus cost more than a game by themselves, how will this work?

Sweet, haha. Nyko just released an off brand of this, same size of standard remote but MP built-in. I'd take the first-party version. I was hoping one would come out, but didn't think it actually would so soon. Awesome.

Wouldn't doubt its existance, and definitely something Nintendo would have eventually done anyway. Can imagine this forming the basis of a revised and sleaker looking Wii2 remote.

Just updated the news - has been confirmed as "real", but Nintendo have nothing to announce - yet.

Awesome! This is great news! Smilie

Honestly, this was expected. Nintendo did express interest in re-releasing the Wii Remote with the Wii MotionPlus tech built into it, and we all know this tech was originally intended to be apart of the Wii Remote in the first place, but costs forced them to cut it out. Smilie

I wonder how much is it going to cost? I can't imagine it being too much more than the standard Wii Remote. Smilie
