Muramasa Leaps from Wii to Download Services? on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

If reports from Japanese sources are true, Vanillaware could be bringing both Odin Sphere (PS2) and Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Wii) to download services, with many believing this to mean the games will appear on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade eventually.

Cubed3 gave Muramasa: The Demon Blade 9/10, marking it as an essential purchase for any Wii owner. However, despite positive scores across the board, sales in Japan and the US were lower than expected, whilst in Europe many large retailers did not even stock the game (much to Rising Star Games' chagrin).

Have you already bought Muramasa: The Demon Blade, or would you prefer to see it as a download release in the future?

Bah, I still really want Muramasa. Smilie Odin Sphere was awesome. Nice to see the games spreading to other formats, they need as much attention as they can get. I'd always rather have a retail copy though.

Marvellous Entertainment's president said they had plans to do this earlier this year.

I've already bought both. They should localize Princess Crown and release that too.

Muramasa was good, the artwork was so beautiful I just stopped and admired it a lot of the time. I never really understood the sword forging system though.

Id like it split in, like 3 parts and put on wiiware for a decent price Smilie

I just got this game off Amazon for about $20 USD. It really is a pretty game, and fun to play.

After seeing this here I ordered one of the last copies from Amazon for 20€. I'm sure that I'll enjoy it since I'm a huge fan of everything japanese-related and no dubs make it even better.

Odin sphere is so beautiful I always wanted to play it

PS3 is just good for Catherine, Demons souls, Dark Souls, and Folklore

Yasuhiro Wada-san said it would be likely that more Wii games would make the transition to Xbox 360 and/or PS3, but never stated exactly what titles would come over. If Odin Sphere is included in this, then it would appear Vanillaware actually has retained the rights to its two games and could be bringing them to download services themselves. OS, after all, was published by Atlus.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did, Vannilaware's games are and development processes are special. There are 21 employees at Vanillaware and all of them are artists, as a groups of artists I think they would want to hold onto rights. I'm guessing the deal with Atlus has expired, that it was purely a temporary publishing deal.
