Nintendo Overpowered in UK Chart Update on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Whilst there have been many times where Nintendo dominated the UK charts lately, this week see that grip slip somewhat, according to the new Chart Track UK update. Following a successful run on Wii, Codemasters has brought F1 2010 to both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 seeing even better success than the Wii / PSP combination from late last year. Halo: Reach continues well, down to No.1 after a phenomenal start last week, whilst Capcom's Dead Rising 2 storms in at No.3.

Below is the Chart Track overview of the combined sales chart, followed by a selection of data from the official website, starting with the Top 20 combined chart, the individual format list, plus the Wii and DS charts:

Debuting on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC Codemasters’ ‘F1 2010’ pops open the champagne at the top of the podium, outselling No2 (Halo: Reach) and No3 (Dead Rising 2) combined, marking Codemasters highest ever opening week. It is the first Formula One game to reach No1 since Sony’s ‘Formula One 2001’ over nine years ago, with this iteration selling more than ten times the 2001 game. With an 80% dip in sales Microsoft’s ‘Halo: Reach’ slips down to No2 and after a four year wait Capcom’s zombie sequel ‘Dead Rising 2’ makes its debut at No3. After an even longer wait of almost five years Sid Meier’s PC strategy franchise returns with ‘Civilization V’ from 2K Games at No4. This means that Sony’s Move title ‘Sports Champions’ (-12%) has been forced down to No5 followed by Activision Blizzard’s sixth Guitar Hero game ‘Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock’ starting out at No6. Ubisoft’s ‘Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands’ (+26%) slips down to No7 and 2K Games’ ‘Mafia II’ (-33%) has dropped by 5 places to No8. Disney’s ‘Toy Story 3’ (-4%) has also dropped 5 places to No9 and another long-standing franchise rounds off the Top 10 with Square Enix’s online-only ‘Final Fantasy XIV’ in at No10. Released first as a collector’s edition, Final Fantasy XIV will be joined by a standard edition next week.

Would liked to have seen Guitar Hero 6 do better, it's by far the best music game I've ever played.
