The New Voices Behind Sonic and Tails on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Sonic Colours will be the first game to introduce new voices for the cast. Want to hear what Sonic and Tails sounds like?

Back in July SEGA announced new voice actors for Sonic and Tails. Roger Craig Smith, who has also been Chris Redfield from Resident Evil 5 and Siegfried Schtauffen in Soul Calibur, is then new voice of our prickly protagonist. Sonic's partner Tails is now voiced by Kate Higgins of Valkyria Chronicles and Madworld fame.

In this new scene (via SEGA's Facebook page) we find Tails trying to help by offering a translation device, in binary code, to bridge the gap with the Wisp race. Does he succeed? Tap play to find out...

AHH the forth wall! that was painful XD Eh ok theres an obivious problem with the voices. Tail is ok and better than alot of the previous versions but for me be'll only sound like the one in "The adventures of sonic the headgehog", i also wish they made him less techy. As for sonic, i could grow to like it but its still not as good as the Brawl version, man his blue balls really dropped in this one.... BUT! atleast the gameplay is looking promising in itself.

Definitely less annoying than the original voices. This game is really starting to get my interest. It's shaping up to look like the best Sonic game in a long time. Fingers crossed. Smilie

It looks and sounds like one of those 3D children's shows on Channel Five that broadcast on Saturday mornings.

Call me old fashioned, but I'd just prefer text dialogue.

Sonic's voice isn't bad, but it's hard to tell with such terrible material. I too think text is better, but not in a cg cutscene like this.

I'm not sure what I think about the voices. They certainly are... different.

But I think the dialogue is pretty terrible though.

It'll take some getting used to, but I think the new VAs are off to a good start. Smilie

If anyone missed it, Sonic does the moonwalk at 16 seconds in. Smilie

Also, the DS demo is now on the European Nintendo Channel!

This isn't a CG cutscene, it's in-game. Smilie

Also, I kinda like the material. It's fun and silly. I especially like the 4th wall breakage. The writer has said that this isn't a scene he likes too much and that the rest of the cutscenes are much better. Smilie

This is going to get some getting used to. Sonic's voice is very weird and not sure if it is going to be better than Jason, but when I get the full game in a few weeks I will have to judge better than on one cut scene. I hope RCS has potential to bring Sonic to his age.

Tails' voice is probably the best I've heard it in the longest time. Since Sonic Adventure, he's been so cringeworthy. Sonic may take a bit more listening to to see if it suits, but it will probably click after not too long. Brawl Sonic sounded good actually, who was it who did his voice then?

The voice in Brawl was Jason Griffith, who did Sonic's voice in Sonic X and all the games from Rush to now. I did like his voice, but I preferred it in the games to the anime for some reason.

this voice is really good but its not anything like how sonic should be. its a good anime voice, but not a great sonic voice.

Mario, Mega Man and Rayman FTW!!!

Give it time. In a few years we will be the same as we were when Jason took over the role from Ryan. This is just one scene of footage.

I still say they should've brought in Jaleel White. Smilie

Chance favors the prepared mind.

8) maybe just all the other sonic games they still won't find an appropriate voice actor i bet money this is temporary and will want to change the voice actor again.....but hopefully they'll stick with someone that actually fits sonic and the rest for the sonic Cast

Sonic no longer sounds like a complete douche. Good stuff.

I quite like the sound of Sonics voice, will take a bit of time to adjust but I think it's a good change.
