Nintendo has announced that during one of the busiest sales periods of the year in the US, Thanksgiving, it managed to sell through around 1.5 million units of hardware to eager punters wanting to grab the new 25th Anniversary of Mario Wii system, which comes in a hot red shade, as well as new Nintendo DSi bundles.
Rough numbers released by Nintendo put total sales of the Nintendo DS family at 900,000 units, whilst Wii saw a massive rebound, nearly trebling its previous month's sales, passing through the 600,000 mark. The NPD Group has not released its monthly data yet, but no doubt Sony and Microsoft will have something to boast about in the near future.
US shoppers bought about 9,000 Nintendo hardware systems non-stop for every hour of every day during the week of Black Friday. For the past several years, consumers have decided that Nintendo defined both top value and all-inclusive entertainment, and that sentiment continues again at the start of this shopping season."
