Cave Story Now on EU WiiWare on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The much anticipated WiiWare version of Cave Story has finally reached European shores complete with new features and fixes.

The wait brings an improved experience, additional gameplay enhancements omitted from the original North American release. It's also available at a slightly cheaper 1000 Wii Points, as opposed to the previous 1200 charge.

Cave Story began as a homemade project for PC, released over five years ago. It's since won the heart of many gamers with its side-scrolling 2D platforming mechanics inspired by the likes of Castlevania and Super Metrid. Creator Studio Pixel gave blessing to various ports, including the now released WiiWare edition and a forthcoming portable outing on the DS.

Unsure? There's also a free to play demo to try before you buy.

Fellow platfomer Super Bonk is also out in its classic SNES form this week for a healthy 900 virtual points.

I have the freeware GP2X version sitting on my GP2X Wiz (running with Ginge), and I find it very enjoyable =). It's impressive how well put together this game is.

This is the kind of demos they should be releasing at a steady flow. Lost winds should have been demoed when they first arrived.
The demo has swayed me to buy the game. I loved it. The text is good and it doesnt waffle on and on like other games. Its concise and to the point. The combat is right up my street.

I loved everything about it except the sharp thing in the egg lab that went back and fourth. It killed me twice because I was careless. There was no where to save!!!

Why hasnt nintedo given demos their own channel and their own category in the wii shop. Why doesnt the wii shop have the same layout as the wii home screen. Square channels instead of the cheap and cramped scrolling window.

Looks interesting. I'll get it when I have more money on my hands sometime next year. For now, I still have many games for my Wii to get such as Sin and Punishment 2, Wario Land: Shake it, Sonic Colours, Metroid: Other M and Epic Mickey. Smilie

Great game.

I downloaded it on PC, for free.

Beautiful game and visuals, I really like it. The music is great, as well. I'd prefer to play it with the Wiimote, just for comfortability, but I can live with keyboard controls.

They do have their own category, although its under "genres".

LOL. I would never have thought to have looked there. Is that a correct use of the term genre. What game are you playing tonight? Im going for some demo action.

Thanks for the tip; I dont think it should be a sub category. The first screen should have a demo link. A demo channel should also be downloadable to the wii home screen.

You could always just search the word demo as well.

I agree though there should be a permanent demo section. Nintendo should send updates directly to everyones wii of what titles are out every week but hey that would make too much sense.
They did it once randomly for super mario kart and then...never again :/

Indeed.
There should be a special option you can toggle for "autodownload demos" (as well as autocacheing your fav websites, news, videos etc).
The downloads would goto the SD card, and people without large cards would simply leave it turned of. Simple.

Ive plays US version and trying PAL one now, only difference so far is the music. Some tracks are replaced like the title screen whilst others just improved upon.
