Capcom has made an intriguing statement lately that indicates Monster Hunter Portable 3 could come to the Nintendo 3DS system. In the latest issue of Japanese publication Gemaga, the CEO of Capcom, Haruhiro Tsujimoto, pointed towards the multi-million selling adventure series making the leap to Nintendo's innovative new 3D platform that launches in Japan this February, and in March elsewhere around the world. Initial reports were hazy at best, given the source was a Japanese blog, but the full scan of the question posed to Tsujimoto-san in Gemaga has now leaked online and been roughly translated into English.
When asked about what type of year 2011 will be, Tsujimoto-san began by stating "It's shaping up to be a year of continued challenge in terms of expanding Monster Hunter Portable 3." The point where things become increasingly interesting is when he follows this statement up with the following, "Also 3DS is coming out, so the time is coming for a change of hardware. The new hardware releases in the market will probably turn this year into a watershed year." Given how in Japan alone Monster Hunter tri managed to sell over a million units on Wii in 2010, and Monster Hunter Portable 3 has currently sold over 3.5 million copies on the PlayStation Portable, speculation is rife now that either Monster Hunter Portable 3 itself will come to 3DS, or the an update of some form. Tsujimoto-san finished answering the question posed by adding, "2011's biggest goal is Monster Hunter Portable 3. We want to create, even more so than with Monster Hunter Portable 2G, places for users to stay in touch with each other, and we will keep pumping out information relating to Monster Hunter Portable 3."
Would you like to see Monster Hunter Portable 3 appear on Nintendo 3DS, or do you feel it is destined to head to the PlayStation Portable 2 instead?
