Tales of Graces Nintendo Wii for US? on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Could Bandai Namco's Tales of Graces finally be heading to the US on Nintendo Wii? The highly rated, and hotly anticipated Wii role-playing game launched in the Christmas period of 2009 in Japan and has still not seen the light of day outside of the Land of the Rising Sun. However, Game Informer has given us all a glimmer of hope with its updated Wii release list for 2011. Below is the full list of games featured:

January

  • Get Fit With Mel B
  • Battle vs. Chess
  • A Shadow's Tale
  • You Don’t Know Jack
February
  • Mario Sports Mix
  • NASCAR 2011
  • LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
  • de Blob 2
  • The Conduit 2
March
  • Major League Baseball 2K11
  • WWE All Stars
  • Lucha Libre AAA Heroes of the Ring
  • UFC Personal Trainer
Q1 2011
  • Man vs. Wild
  • Tales of Graces
Q2 2011
  • Driver: San Francisco
  • TrackMania
Q3 2011
  • Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters
October
  • The Grinder
TBA 2011
  • Top Spin 4
  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Clearly this list must be taken with a hefty pinch of salt for the time being since there is no official confirmation at this time, but it is hoped that despite only selling a meagre 220,000 units in Japan (as of April 2010), the game has indeed been picked up for a Western release, perhaps alongside the PS3 version, Tales of Graces F.

Haha what a coincidence. I just told a friend today who totally loves the Tales games that there's one that's not out here yet and that it's said to be much better than Dawn of the New World. She's gonna be extremely happy if I tell her that it might actually come out over here this year. Smilie

I hope they keep the original Japanese voices as option because I love Japanese and those voice actors over in Japan really know what they're doing. I'm going to dream about how this year for the Wii could be in terms of RPGs. Imagine us getting Xenoblade, The Last Story and Tales of Graces all (perfectly localized) with the original voices available. My jaw would break through the floor. Smilie

With Nintendo having such success with Dragon Quest IX, plus Golden Sun doing well in the US, I really hope it has picked up ToG as well!

keeping an eye out on this. Might order it as soon as it is released in the US. Chances are we won't get it in Europe, as was the case with Arc Rise fantasia, so...

ARF is a really odd one. I do wonder if NoE has it lined up for an early 2011 release here. RSG had it all set to go and then it was magically swept from under their feet. Why? Nobody will say, which usually implies Nintendo is involved...

Chances seem better for Tales of Graces though, if you ask me. One Tales game came out in Europe last year and the series is generally more known. And yea, like jesusraz said, JRPGs have seen a lot of success outside of Japan lately so hopefully they'll bring more over here this year. Smilie

I'd rather have Xenoblade or Last Story than a stinky Tales game.

I hope Nintendo publishes it and it has all the content Tales of Graces F has.

I hope it does get released out here. It's already a massive shame that the DS Tales games have not been released to the West. Smilie

I thought they said no more Tales for the States, ever. In any case, it should be mentioned that Game Informer is GameStop's magazine, so if the people at the store don't know shit in advance (which is almost always the case) it might be safe to assume the same of their magazine. I don't know that they've ever gotten anything really exclusive; they find things out pretty much the same way and time as everyone else does.

Personally, I hope they bring it over here. I loved both Symphonia games, and I couldn't get into Vesperia (the demo, anyway) because I couldn't make hide nor seek of the damn controls, so more Wii/DS games would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard some snippets of it and god, it's awful. Might as well keep the original voices before they ruin the game with horrible dubs. Would be cheaper for them too.Smilie

I'm homebrew enabled though, and I read there's an undub version out there. Think I'll track it down Smilie. It can't hurt, and besides, I own the game so I'm not robbing anyone Smilie.

I bought Vesperia and still haven't finished it yet, lost interest. That and Dawn of the New World just couldn't keep a hold of me. However, I love Tales of the Abyss and hope and pray that Namco can find it in their hearts to bring the 3DS version stateside. Oh, and Graces is invited as well. Smilie
