Rumor: New Pokemon Battle Game for Wii? on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

A Nintendo rep at CES 2011 has suggested that a new Pokemon game is in the works for the Wii, combining battle and story.

According to Pokemon website BulbaNews, it was suggested that a battle title similar to the GameCube Poke-RPG Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness with the graphics of previous Wii game Battle Revolution is in the works at Nintendo as the next disc release. It's said to support the full roster, including the 156 new critters to be uncovered in Black and White.

It was brought up when a Nintendo representative mistakenly asked:

"What I want to know is will the Wii title that they are making that is similar to Gales of Darkness have full connectivity with Black and White?"

Would you be up for a new 3D Pokemon game on the Wii? Did you enjoy the story/adventure mode in Gale of Darkness - would you like to see the feature return?

I wouldn't say no, as long as Genius Sonority aren't making it, and the stadium features are vastly improved in content over the past few games.

I actually liked both Gamecube games. They were by far not the 3D Pokémon games we all still dream of but they were pretty good. If this one is good too and has some nice connectivity stuff with Black and White I might actually get it.

I'd also like a much more improved Pokémon Stadium included with it where you can fight both offline and online against other players, being able to choose from the full roster plus customized rules and not have a few sucky pre-set teams to choose from. If it had that it would be awesome. Smilie

I still don't think we'll really get a proper 3D RPG. I'm guessing another Poképark game.

As long as we don't have to Snag any Pokemon. Hated that in Colosseum. Also hated the forced 2 vs 2 battles.

I want a big open world sand-box pokemon game for the next Nintendo console. Smilie

I wouldn't mind snagging Pokémon if you could get them the traditional way too but that wasn't the case in those games. Gale of Darkness had those weird places but they weren't anything special to get good Pokémon.

Hopefully it's not another Pokémon Battle Revolution either. I still regret buying that game. It sucks.

Honestly never saw what people loved about the Stadium games. Yeah mini games are fun, but asides from that?

Might have been the fact that people never saw Pokémon fighting in 3D before ~~and that the commentator was awesome~~.

I remember myself playing some matches against my sister with our favorite Pokémon back in the day, it was pretty fun. Same goes for the minigames. Good times.

All I want is a 3D battle simulator where I can properly manage my items and pokemon, like in the Stadium games. 3D pokemon RPG games are too slow because of all the animations and loading. I don't want to wait 30 seconds every time I get in a wild pokemon battle.

The commentator in those games were the first voices I ever consciously turned off in a video game. Plus he pronounced loads of of names wrong sdkjghsjdk.

As for 3D Battles, the options in Colosseum and XD really weren't all that bad.

Well, I've played the German version that had a different commentator. Maybe he was better than the English one. I can't recall him pronouncing any names wrong but then again the names were all in German and I didn't know near as much about Pokémon as I do today so who knows. They were still pretty hilarious though. Smilie

I don't think the options in Colosseum and XD were bad either but there is a lot of room for improvement to make a true next generation Pokémon Stadium.

I think the battle option was better than XD and Colosseum. Rental Pokemon is a lot of fun when it comes to having a friend who doesn't have a DS game. I really didn't want a 3D rpg because a Pokemon adventure game really doesn't belong on the console.

Plus the whole tournament mode was awesome.

I know PBR is the most similar to Stadium, but it isn't the same. The rentals were pretty lousy with attacks.

I'd like a 3D Pokemon game built from the ground up using conventional RPG elements with a story that has some non-linear elements that effect the Poke'world you inhabit.

I would like that. I really loved Gale of Darkness and I really would like to see a similar game in the future with better graphics and the abilty to link up with friends to do all sorts of things...Not just to battle either. Smilie It would even be cooler if they made two main characters to chose to play as, either as a boy, OR a girl.
