Nintendo UK on 3DS Piracy Issues on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

David Yarnton recently discussed software piracy, confirming Nintendo's increased measures to prevent it on the upcoming 3DS.

The Nintendo UK General Manager spoke to CVG last week on the importance of reducing piracy in the long term, especially in the handheld arena where piracy is far more prominent, especially with the DS.

We can't divulge any technical details ... but needless to say this is probably one of our best pieces of equipment in that respect.

There are a lot of things we've learned over time to try and improve the security and protection, not only of our IP but of our third-party publishers' IP as well.

He denies that the system is "uncrackable", but does raise hope for Nintendo and third parties who could suffer from online software piracy, through improved technical protection and laws/regulations in the creative industries.

This now makes a precedent that potentially in the future it won't be a viable thing for people to do.

cheaper games to stop piracy, not increase protection. Have a proper online store like steam and it will help combat piracy especially in foreign countries. Last gen things like region lock is ridiculous.
