Nintendo Reveals Rhythm Tengoku Wii Trailer on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

At the special investors briefing last week, Nintendo of Japan's Chief Executive Officer, Satoru Iwata, lifted the lid on the highly anticipated third entry into the Rhythm Tengoku music-based series. Starting out on the Game Boy Advance in the Japanese-only release, Rhythm Tengoku, the Western world only took real notice of the game in with the advent of million-selling DS sequel Rhythm Tengoku Gold (Rhythm Heaven in the US and Rhythm Paradise in Europe).

Now, though, a third version is set to hit Wii in early 2011 over in Japan and a new trailer has been revealed, showing a small snippet of what to expect:

I hope this doesn't use motion controls, otherwise it will likely be not so good.

I adored this on the DS, so I'm naturally looking forward to this Wii version.

It sure does look like it uses waggle. A fork, a sword and a racket?
Smilie Motion controls are too imprecise, we want buttons!

OH MY GOD.

Those rhythms are damn catchy. Smilie Actually looks like a lot of fun. Weird that I've never even heard of the series before though...and I thought I was well informed. Smilie

Holy crap thats awesome! but yeah i was thinking too motion controls could be iffy.

That's great news! Loved the DS version (the music, oh the music!) and hope this one gets released over here before the end of the year.

@Marzy: Looking at the video above at least the last one seems to make sense with motion controls...

I wouldn't be worried about motion controls in a title like this, it will probably be mostly using simple shake movements which work well with the wiimote.
