Nintendo Supporting Street Fighter 3DS on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

It has been confirmed that Nintendo will be working alongside Capcom to promote Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition on Nintendo 3DS as one of the key launch day titles.

Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo of Australia will actually be working alongside Capcom to release the eagerly awaited 3DS fighter in PAL territories as part of the programme Satoru Iwata is pushing, whereby Third Parties take the lead during the Nintendo 3DS launch period. With Nintendo on-board to help with the sales, marketing and distribution of Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, we could be set to see the series selling almost as well as it did when launching alongside the Super Nintendo back in the 1990s!

On a slightly related point, do not forget Cubed3's recent exclusive revelation that Yoshinori Ono, the main man behind Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, expressed a strong desire to create a Capcom vs. Nintendo fighting game. Since asking the question and breaking the news of his positive answer a couple of weeks ago, as well as unleashing his follow-up Twitter confirmation to Cubed3 a few days later, the Internet has exploded with fans desperate for Ono-san to team with Masahiro Sakurai-san on such a project, to the point where even IGN is running a special feature on the idea.

If Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition proves successful, do you feel the Nintendo 3DS should be treated to Capcom vs. Nintendo next?

No big surprise if you ask me. Super Street Fighter IV is THE showcase title for the 3DS, boasting many of its features. Capcom really tried to set itself apart from all the other 3D-makes and that's exactly why I'm gonna get it(and maybe the fact that I've never played SSF before).Smilie

SFIV for the win, glad Nintendo are supporting, just no JLS please, k thanks bye!

Might end up with a copy of this. I had the original on 360, and although I sold it in favour of Tatsunoko vs Capcom, I'm without an effective handheld scrapper. Certainly a worthy showcase for the system.

I thoroughly recommend it. One of the few games I actually got to try in Amsterdam, but wow was it ever impressive! I've not touched SF games since the SNES/PS days, but it was like I'd never been away jumping into this version! Loved every second of it - the over-the-shoulder view, the classic view, with 3D on and off as well.

I'm really happy to see Nintendo trying so hard to support 3rd parties. I hope this will help benefit in the long run... as well as benefit us. Smilie

"Do a Barrel Roll!"

You know I'm quite suprised a Nintendo vs Capcom game hasn't been made yet. Really with the dawn of the Smash Bros. franchise crossovers seem like games that SHOULD be made now.

I'd love to see a Capcom vs. Namco Bandai or a Capcom vs. Konami....except that Konami doesn't really have all that many known or figherable characters outside of Contra, Castlevania & Metal Gear.

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422

Ha! I can imagine JLS "chopping wood" with this one!

"It has been confirmed that Nintendo will be working alongside Capcom to promote Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition on Nintendo 3DS..."

...and I will help promote Street Fighter IV 3D Edition on Nintendo 3DS by purchasing and raving about it to everyone. Smilie
