Zelda Painting with Almost Everyone on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

An artist on Ag+ Pixiv has crafted a rather delicious piece of art to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda.

Whip up a brew, this is over 6500 pixels of pure Zelda love, combining some of the heroes, villians and lovable cast met throughout the years, including the Hylian sages, Dark Link, Midna and many more.

A true piece of art. Simply amazing..or no, not even amazing is enough to describe this. In fact, I can't actually find a fitting word to describe it.

The seamless transitions in there are really just masterful. Quite possibly the best piece of fantasy art I've ever seen in my life. I really REALLY want a wallscroll of this right now...

Jesus, I'm almost speechless! I saw the picture for Link, Ganondorf, & Zelda and thought that that was amazing itself, and now the whole picture? Simply WOW!

If you watch the video (58 seconds into it) you can see that the artist originally painted Ganon in a different style, only to redraw him later.

So I watched the video. Interesting how the bottom connects to the top.
Did anyone else notice that it tells a story?? It starts with hope, a legend and sages. Then Link and Zelda show up. Link meets all these people who help him, who have touched his life and have been touched by him. But he also has enemies. The biggest being Gannon. Sometimes Gannon even prevails.
But.. then there's always hope. A next generation will rise, as the mother with the baby symbolizes.

And that's where it all starts over again.

Tingle is tiny - just to the left of Malon/Cremia/Romani.

I figured that's probably why I didn't see Tetra in there, but there are characters from all the different games, so I though she might have been thrown in there too.

At first, I thought the woman carrying the baby was in reference to the backstory of Link from Ocarina of Time - how his mother fled to the forest and left baby Link with the Deku Tree.

That's what I'm thinking too.
And the wolf has to be Link in wolf form, right? And the knight next to that, is that the knight that helps Link in TP? Some people have suggested that it's the spirit of a previous Link. So that would fit in pretty nicely with that around him.

Who's the grey-haired guy left of Gannon?

Oh and who's that long-haired guy/girl with a Link-hat, below the big Zerg Overmind eye? Or if it's just somebody from ST, don't tell me. Smilie I'm about to start that game.

Oh man that's made from scratch? I always assumed (and told myself) that anything like this had to be done the traditional way (paint and paper) then scanned in to be edited in Photoshop. I had no idea it was even possible to do something like this with a computer :O I'd love to be able to do even basic things in photoshop, yet even after a graphic design A-Level I couldn't create anything as remotely detailed as a corner of that artwork.

Add me on anything. I'm always looking for new friends/opponents/town visitors/chances to appear more popular than I actually am.

The guy left of Ganon looks like he could be Oni Link from Majora's Mask. Would make sense since Dark Link is right of Ganon and Oni Link is a transformation in an evil demon after all.

The long-haired guy there is Vaati. Smilie

I know most of them are a given, but it would be cool if someone could do a crappy edit and put the names of each character there, because there are one or two I'm not sure about myself.

Best would be just to use an imagemap and tooltips.
I'd do it myself but I havn't worked out enough Smilie
