Known for their critically praised games on Nintendo's WiiWare service, Shin'en seem to never fail at producing some great software. Previous games include Jett Rocket and Art of Balance. The developer has now finished work on developing their new title, FAST Racing League. A futuristic racer that looks to be taking some inspiration from F-Zero and will be heading to WiiWare.
Shin'en have release new infomation in regards to how the game plays, as well as some techniqual information about it.
Firstly, the games unique gameplay feature comes from "Phase Switching". A system that uses a black and white ship colour to determine whether you get to use speed plates, jump pads or ceiling tracks. For example, if your ship is in a white phase and you used a white speed plate, it would give it a strong boost. If it was in a black phase and you drove over a white speed plate, it would slow you down. To enable phase switching, items are collected on the tracks.
The game features 12 large tracks to unlock, 15 items to unlock and also three leagues to unlock. On top of this, the game supports 1 - 4 player splitscreen multiplayer.
As well as unlocking new tracks, vehicles and leagues, the game also come featured with 21 challenges. Each of these will give you a new challenge to solve and provide a different style of gameplay.
On a more technical side, Shin'en have said the game will run in 50/60hz, 16:9 and 4:3, progressive.
