Nintendo to open New R&D Centre on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo have confirmed plans to open up an additional Research and Development centre alongside their offices in Japan.

According to Kotaku, 2012 will mark a year of expansion for Nintendo, with January 1st being the official date to put plans into action. The new studios will house 1,500 employees and cost around USD$15 million to get up and running.

It allows Nintendo to bridge the gap between offices and development centre, after bulldozing an adjacent golf course back in 2008, bringing the two closer together.

would this be because of the Wii 2? Mmm, interesting...

I certainly hope so! More first party Marios, Zeldas etc would be just fab Smilie

This would be, IMHO, to help further expand their domination on the market, by reinvesting all those revenues in R&D and come up with more ideas than their competitors. Would make a lot of sense. AND that would include R&D for the home console market too, including Wii 2 Smilie.
