GAME Nabs 3DS Consoles from Tesco on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

In order to keep demand, UK retailer GAME has admitted advising stores to pop down to their local supermarket for 3DS consoles.

The 3DS launch has been extremely popular and with supplies limited, it seems GAME has been raiding fellow retailer Tesco's stash, by instructing staff to buy up to 5 bundles (at £209 each, including a game), then selling them at GAME as pre-ordered stock (but at full price, it seems).

Some of our stores wanted to move quickly last weekend to build their pre-owned stocks of 3DS at the same time as their local competitors, so we gave them a process to do that. It was not mandatory, and happened in small volumes.

So to buy at GAME or a supermarket for cheaper? Hmm..

Didn't game do something similar a few years back when Sainsburys knocked 20% off the price of consoles?

So apparently they get enough customers to be able to do this. Either way, both stores are happy I guess.

Tesco sell at a loss to attract new customers and add sales of profitable products when they come in. So game employees buying the console is a waste of time and money for tesco.

I hate both stores (Tesco considerably more) but Game doing this means game wins a little, Tesco looses a little, the consumer has less chance to buy at tesco prices.

How shocking for a business to be interested in profit.
