New Polarium Put on Hold for Now on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

In an interview with Cubed3 in September last year about the 9/10-rated puzzle title PANG: Magical Michael for DS, Mitchell Corporation's Roy Ozaki stated that a third Polarium was being made, with the aim to get it out in 2011.

Now there has been some disappointing news for fans still waiting for the intriguing puzzler to make its return - the project has been shelved for the time being due to the team hitting a brick wall during development. Fear not, though, as Polarium will indeed be back at some point, just not quite as soon as anticipated. Below is the original comment from Ozaki-san:

Adam Riley: The world has seen two versions of PuzzLoop, Sujin Taisen and Wakugumi in the past few years. What has happened to Polarium, though? Will there be a new version?

Roy Ozaki-san, Mitchell Corporation: I can't go into details yet, but we are working on a new Polarium, perhaps for next year.

Now the team is taking a break to work on other projects, but will eventually return to Polarium with much gusto.

In other news, Kouichi Yotsui, who worked with Mitchell in the past on Cannon Dancer / Osman (the spiritual successor to Capcom's Strider, which he directed before leaving the company), has a new release on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade called Moon Diver (formerly Necromachina) that is being published by Square Enix. Following this, though, would you like to see Yotsui-san team up with Mitchell once more for another project like Osman?

That PSN game looks awesome. People who only own Nintendo platforms miss out on so many great titles that it really becomes an annoying trend, and Nintendo doesn't even seem to care.
