Max & the Magic Marker Releasing on Disc and Nintendo DS on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Back in 2010, Press Play developed Max & the Magic Marker for WiiWare. The game used the Wii Remote pointer as a marker pen, which could then be used to draw into the game's environments and help Max complete stages. After its success as a digital download, a budget publisher have now picked up the rights to publish it on disc format, as well as port it to the Nintendo DS.

Easy Interactive say both the Wii and DS versions will be releasing in mid-June for PAL regions, though no release dates were announced for other regions. Also, judging by Amazon's description for both versions, it doesn't look like there will be any extra content for either of them.

A brief list of features included are:

- 15 inventive and puzzling levels
- Unique drawing control in a truly dynamic physics environment
- 3 beautiful worlds inspired by children drawings
- Death traps, monsters and challenging puzzles
- Unlockable challenges, secrets and rewards

It's not even funny.

I understand a DS port but why release a games thats already avalible and cheaper on wiiware, not to mention steam, whos going to pay twice/three times as much? Heres hoping its an april fools thing.

The game was a lot of fun on Wiiware but, will this sell at retail for $20 (or the equivalent on Euro/British Pounds)?

I know, what are Easy Interactive thinking?

The idea is that the game really undersold on WiiWare. Unlike games such as World of Goo, And Yet It Moves and NyxQuest, which all did really well, sadly Press Play's excellent physics-based platform-puzzler didn't fare anywhere near as well.

Soooooo...hopefully Max will appeal to the 'wider audience' that doesn't really use download stuff on Wii, or the DS crowd that loves a challenge.
