Criterion Expresses Interest in Burnout 3D on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Alex Ward, creative director at Criterion, recently expressed an interest on crafting a version of Burnout for Nintendo's 3DS.

After sampling the new console, Ward tweeted: "Lots of blurred eyes from 3DS session. Would do a mean Burnout 3 - Takedown 3D". He then went on to tweet whether a fan would like a whole new entry or a port of the well received Burnout 3.

Burnout Freestyle was originally planned for both Wii and DS, but faced the axe earlier this year - it had gotten beyond planning, with mockups in place for the DS version.

The project has yet to be confirmed, but at least there's interest in bringing the franchise to the 3DS.

After having played rather extensively the open world of Burnout Paradise on PC, I'd have a hard time going back to the classic linear formula on a newer console :/.

Wouldn't it be sort of possible to scale down a bit such an open world on the handheld ? I mean it's got pretty good graphic capabilities, we're sure of that much.

And the fact that it uses cartridges would mean much faster access to data and the possibility of streaming data directly from the cartridge to circumvent the memory constraints.

Would much prefer a new game than a remake.
