Plants vs Zombies DS Gets UK Release Date on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

PopCap Games' Plants vs Zombies has had success on a range of platforms and has gained plenty of praise from reviews. It's even been touted as the fastest selling strategy game on the iPhone and iPad, with over 300,000 sales in just nine days. This success lead to a version for the Nintendo DS, which was released in the US, earlier on in the year.

PopCap Games and Mastertronic have now announced a UK release date for the game and you'll finally be able to get your hands on it May 6th 2011.

Mastertronics product director, Neil McKenna, also had some words to say about Plants vs Zombies arrival to the Nintendo DS. McKenna stated: "With such a proven track record on a portable platform, we're delighted to bring Plants vs. Zombies to the world's most popular handheld gaming device, the Nintendo DS."

Will any of our UK members be picking up a copy?

Considering I already have it on XBLA, and it's pretty much the same, with the XBLA version being more superior. I think I'll pass on this one.

Definitely one of the most fun tower defense-style games I've ever played though, so I'd check it out if you haven't already! Smilie

I really hope Popcap expand on the series, like they have with Bejeweled and a couple of their other games. That would make me a happy chappy.

God love the game and all, but damn too many versions! I played this on my mac. in the beginning. At least update it with more characters, maybe themes of the yards. Unno lol -_-;

DSiWare or retail?

It should be DSiWare.

There is a boxed DS version here in the US, so I'm guessing Europe will also get a boxed version.

Edit: Wikipedia says there is also a DSiWare version. I wonder when that will be released

This is the retail/boxed version. I had no idea they were also bringing it to DSiWare.

It's a really great game and certainly addictive.

My bro played it on PC and he loved it. He actually warned me about it, that it's too addictive.
It would be a great game to have for a few bucks on DSi/3DSWare.

It's a great game, played it on my bro's iPod, but it needs to be a downloadable title. Popcap should have scrapped the DS version and just waited for 3DSWare. From what I've heard this suffers from a fair bit of slowdown when things get busy.
