Steel Diver Heading to Europe Next Month on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

What started out as a tech-demo on the original Nintendo DS, finally became a full game on the Nintendo 3DS. US 3DS owners were lucky enough to be able to pick it up during the consoles launch, but the game never featured in Europe's launch line-up. Nintendo have now announced a European release date for Steel Diver and it will be hitting stores on May 6th 2011.

At the moment, Steel Diver is one of the few Nintendo developed titles to hit the 3DS. Players control a variety of submarines which can be used to explore the depths of the sea and take down enemy submarines. The game utilizes the 3DS' gyroscopic sensors and touchscreen, which brings a unique control scheme.

Reggie Fils-Aime called it a "sleeper hit", but will you be picking a copy up?

Oh u mean europe did get this right away? Hmmm... It's ok europe, its not like your missing some grand experience. I bet u, if nintendo did sponsor and make this game and hype it up... and then we saw this game out on the shelves one day with let's say "gameloft" on it... we'd all think what shovel-ware this game is... That's why i freaked out nintendo took this game in... O.o Smilie

I still can't believe this was the best Nintendo could come up with.
It might have been fun as a €5 downloadable game.

Will be on the lookout for this one Smilie. Some reviews say it suffers from the same problem as Pilotwings though... that it's short Smilie

It's only really going to appeal to oldies who liked playing Battleship when they were young. Good game, but not great.
