A newly uncovered patent reveals a possible lighting solution for the Wii that reacts to how you play certain games.
Mood lighting in technology is not uncommon, however for video gaming it's hardly been touched upon.
Nintendo may have been working on a new accessory for the Wii dubbed "Wii Light", a portable mood light that pumps out up to 256 different colours based on what's happening on screen, to really bring players into the game.
The patent, devised sometime in 2009, gives useful applications for the tech - shooting on target in a FPS, special hits in a fighter or even setting the stage for a dancing game for example. Games could be set to vary the lights, colours, intensity and effects on specific button presses.
Nintendo also propose the light be used to match a game's backing track - perhaps in a horror title or rhythm game to add that extra layer of atmosphere.
