Pro Evo 2012 Scores a Goal on Wii on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Konami has confirmed the next annual football installment in the Pro Evolution series across multiple platforms this fall.

The latest chapter in the series is set to undergo the usual set of improvements, including a stronger focus on teamwork and a more open approach to allow players to better dictat the pace of movement. AI for supportive players is said to be improved through dummy runs and all sorts of tactical play, letting the opposing team fall into mistakes. Goal defence has also been strengthened, to allow a bit more thought into goal-scoring opportunities.

Other improvements include refined animation, varied lighting and a larger variety of player styles and types. Collision detection is said to be more realistic and with a better pass feature.

As such, in consultation with football fans across the globe, we have been working non-stop to isolate and determine how to make our game marry in with how real football is played. This is key to PES 2012, and key to providing the ultimate football experience within a console title.

The game again features exclusively the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League licenses.

PES 2012 is due out this Autumn on Wii, PC, PlayStation Portable, PS2/3 and Xbox 360 this fall but a 3D version has yet to be mentioned.

I really hope the 3DS version simply hasn't been mentioned YET just so the current 3DS release doesn't get hit too hard. If it's a staggered release like they did with the Wii games at first, though, then it's screwed...

Pro Evo on the Wii is worth buying a Wii for alone. You won't find a better and more realistic football game on any console. The pointer controls give you so many attacking options it's unreal. Any goal you see on Match of The Day can be replicated.
