Grab your $99 DS Lite Today + New Red Mario Cases on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The DS Lite is getting a new lower retail price next week at $99.99 (£60/€70/$90 AUS), plus a special selection of Mario games for a range of portable fun.

The popular console is slowly being phased out with the new recommended price point. The offer will also be accompanied by a handful of Mario games with new red packaging, to "make it easy for them to find their favorite Mario titles", according to Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.

The move also marks the last chance gamers will be able to grab a new console that plays GameBoy Advance games.

Nintendo also confirmed total sales for each of the new Mario selection, including New Super Mario Bros which has just slipped past 9 million and Super Mario 64 with over 4.34 million sold.

  • New Super Mario Bros: more than 9.25 million units
  • Mario Kart DS: more than 7.40 million units
  • Super Mario 64 DS: more than 4.34 million units
  • Mario Party DS: more than 3.27 million units
  • Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story: more than 1.98 million units
  • Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!: more than 1.01 million units
  • Similar price reductions in other territories are likely, but have yet to be confirmed.

70€? Damn, that's less than the price of two Wii games. Smilie If you can grab some great games for cheap along with it, the value is just insane. Smilie
