The 3DS firmware update is due this month, but won't contain a video player - according to Nintendo it will follow shortly.
The first major 3DS firmware update will contain an internet browser and first eShop downloadable games, but will lack a dedicated video application to watch 3D content and TV.
According to Official Nintendo Magazine the app will be released in the "near future", letting 3DS owners tap into sponsored content - trailers, music videos and 3D features by hooking up to your own Wi-Fi or a compatible hotspot.
Nintendo of Europe announced last year that they will be partnering with EuroSport and Sky 3D to bring exclusive content to the service.
What would you like to see from the 3DS video service?
