During Nintendo's E3 press conference today the publisher shared footage from Mario's latest adventure - Super Mario 3D.

Mario is returning to his roots with a new Super Mario game for 3DS (working title). The adventure sees the plumber in classic platforming antics and some very special power-ups - Out this year for the Nintendo 3DS. Tanooki Mario outfit confirmed! The tailed Mario can hover, flutter jump and attack as he did in previous titles.

The 3D output aims to make the platforming experience more natural, by letting players get a feel of the space for better jumping and judging where Mario is in relation to a question mark block, for example.

Bowser's been dabbling with breeding his minions, with Mario facing tailed Goomba, stacks of Goomba and even a Piranha Plant that spits ink over the screen. Genius!

This looks absolutely amazing. Possibly the first 3DS game that will fully take advantage of the 3D. If anyone can do it, it's Nintendo's EAD team that made both Galaxy games. Smilie

Looks absolutely brilliant! Definitely do want, a Galaxy-esque platformer on the 3DS? Yes please, Nintendo!

It looks so slow!!! It's like playing Galaxy in slow motion.

being as thats the tanooki suit and not the racoon suit does that mean mario can also turn to stone? also i thought the leaf turned mario into racoon mario? another question is will mario fly?
