E311 Media | Picture Lives on 3DS eShop on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

With the launch of the 3DS eShop today in Europe and yesterday in North America and Japan, Nintendo are keen to quickly bolster their unique software library. Enter Picture Lives, a quirky title from developer Asobism.

Players are able to create characters, at first from simple circles and squares, and slowly build up the complexity to make a truly unique creature. Once done, they get a name and voice and can interact with the world via simple touch-screen navigation; walking, running and flying. Once exploring, your unique character can collect eggs to earn money and gain additional tools for customisation or earn power-ups.

On top of this, players can even alter the way their world looks by changing objects such as trees and clouds to make their new buddy feel entirely at home. The more the player draws and used their imagination, the more the world grows with increasing new areas to explore. StreetPass functionality is inbuilt to allow players to swap their unique characters.

God help save the 3DS when it comes time for the new "Nintendo Wii U" to launch because surely everybody can easily predict that the new touchscreen, portable tablet-like controller will atleast change some perceptions of Nintendo fans looking to buy one of the products.

The Wii U isn't a portable system though, so anyone wanting to play games more than 20 feet away from their Wii U would need a 3DS.
