E311 | Kojima Productions Looking into Wii U Development on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

With Metal Gear Solid heading to the Nintendo 3DS, what could the future hold for the series on Wii U? Currently nothing has been set in stone, but Nintendo has apparently actively approached Konami's Kojima Productions about bringing something to the new home console.

Yoshikazu Matsuhana, Creative Producer of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D for Nintendo 3DS confirmed that the console was shown prior to the E3 event and time is being spent on how best to work with the Wii U console.

Obviously we did have talks with Nintendo early on - they approached us with the Wii U. We can't say exactly when this happened or what kind of talks we've had but we were aware of the hardware and we've been looking at it.

We are very much thinking about possibilities with the Wii U and it looks like a very fun system. As for whether we'll have something at launch for the Wii - we can't say that. Probably not, but we definitely have things in mind. We're also looking at the public reaction. If there are enough people who say they want us to bring something to the Wii U that also factors into things.

[ Metal Gear Solid 5? ] We anticipated we would get questions about this today and unfortunately our answer is, we can't answer that. We can't say anything right now. Top secret.

Would you like to see some Metal Gear Solid stealth action on the Wii U format, and how best do you think the controller could be used?

Obviously we don't have a clue what is going on with MGS5, but if not that, then a port of MGS4 would be very nice if they could get rid of the crazy installations between every act. I don't want the U to become a port machine as such, but this one I would gladly welcome.

NOOOOOOOOOO Ports. Games that are really old should not be ported. That will only start a terrible trend. MGS4 is perfectly fine being played on the PS3

It will be a port.....with a map screen.
