E311 | Wii U Capable of Handling Devil

Tomonobu Itagaki has confirmed that his upcoming game, Devil's Third, would work perfectly fine on Wii U. The former Team Ninja boss, now head of Valhalla Games and working alongside THQ, recently spoke about the eagerly awaited first post-Team Ninja project that is due on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012, stating that a Wii U version could be on the way as well.

With Devil's Third being built upon the same game engine that powers Darksiders II, which has been confirmed for Wii U, Itagaki-san said, "There's always a possibility. If Nintendo's fan base increases, especially in terms of hardcore games, then yes. Machine performance-wise, it can handle it."

To back this up further, THQ representatives present during the interview stressed that Valhalla Games is indeed one of a select group of THQ developers that are currently looking very closely at the Wii U hardware, what can be achieved on it, and which game experiences would be best suited to the system and its unique controller.

Are you excited for Devil's Third from the main man behind the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series?

Starting to get fed up of all these companies declaring that their game could run on Wii U. Of course it can, did you even watch that Zelda demo? It can handle anything on the other consoles, that's the point, so stop telling us and do something about it!

Add me on anything. I'm always looking for new friends/opponents/town visitors/chances to appear more popular than I actually am.

I agree with Lynk. With all those "could run on Wii U" statements, they're (intentionally or unintentionally) giving the wrong impression of the Wii U because it's making it look like they're surprised that it actually can run their engines or whatever.

Are we getting PS2 ports on the Wii again?

There's been reports recently saying that the WiiU is 50% more powerful than the PS3 and 360. So, it better run a game like Devil's Third perfectly.
