Skyward Sword Has Musical Gameplay on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

In an interview with Original Sound Vision, Nintendo composer Koji Kondo has revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will involve "new musical gameplay elements.".

Kondo isn't in charge of Skyward Sword, but that hasn't stopped him revealing some details about the music, having worked on the music with Hajime Wakai.

Our next title, Skyward Sword, also has a wide variety of impressive songs, and it has new musical gameplay elements,

Hajime Wakai is in charge of the music, but I also participated in making songs. My composition tools are an electronic piano and a Mac. We use orchestras for a few different songs where we feel that doing so is appropriate.

The recent Skyward Sword trailer shows a Harp in Links inventory, this could be the instrument used in Skyward Sword's gameplay. How exactly it will be involved in the game is yet to be revealed however.

What do you think about Link using a new instrument? How do you expect it to be used in the game?

HELL YEAH! Smilie I love all types of musical instruments in Zelda games! Who's with me? Smilie

I am, I liked using the Wind Waker and Ocarina, Zelda almost always has a musical instrument of some kind. TP didn't use it so much, the wolf whistling and the animal calls could have been used more.

I don't mind instruments, but the one problem I do have is how long they can take to perform sometimes. The wolf howling took too long to do, the fucking wind pipes in Spirit Tracks (playing this atm) are ridiculous. Even in Wind Waker, which I love, the constant stopping and starting to change the wind etc started to get tedious. If they made a quick and simple instrument design that you might not have to rely on too much, I'd be very happy about it. But I did think "ugh" when I read this news post. As long as it's not so tedious, I'll be okay with it.

This is pretty much a given considering how much Zelda revolves around music.

Like Azuardo says: it depends on how they use it. It could be awesome and charming, or it could be repetitive and pointless.

thats cool, for anyone who dosnt know, the Music in the trailer to skyward sword is Zelda's lulaby backwards. so song minipulation is probably gonna be a key feature, maybe we'll get other reversed classics.

Or just implimented better, whenever Wolf Link howls musically it sounds like he's in pain & needs to be put down just like Old Yeller. Smilie That's one of the reasons I didn't like TP.

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422
