Nintendo Extends 3DS Ambassador Programme Rules on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

If you missed the opportunity to connect to Nintendo's eShop on your 3DS system, before August 12th 2011 there's no need to worry! Nintendo have now extended the rules for their Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Programme.

The service was originally only going to be available to those who connected to the eShop on their systems, but now their are more options that will get you your 20 free NES and GBA games.

Nintendo states that if you've connected your system to the internet and created a friend code before August 12th 2011, then you're still eligible to get the free games. Alternatively, you can use the receipt from when you bought your Nintendo 3DS to prove the date of your purchase. Nintendo will soon be putting up a tool which will allow you to enter data from your receipt. The same tool will also allow you to enter your Nintendo 3DS serial number, found on the bottom of our system. By entering it, you can confirm whether your system is eligible to receive the free games.

The tool will be available to access at later date from Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Programme.

That's great news for those who aren't hardcore gamers always roaming the Internet and reading VG websites to be in the know. That way they won't be left out.

Then again, those receipts can be counterfeit. I won't cite names, but I witnessed someone counterfeiting the receipt for the laptop he purchased to get his laptop repaired free of charge when it was past the warranty period. And it saved him like 200€ that way, it worked, because it was so well counterfeited (in like... 20 minutes spent in MSPaint on Windows !).

I dunno if that's the same everywhere but usually stores will encourage that you photocopy your receipt because the paper and ink used in tills is crap and disappears in a matter of weeks. So they'll accept photocopies but those can be counterfeited.

But that being said, I'm not complaining about the news, it's better than the possibility of people being left out.

Wow, their really making sure people get this. Its a shame it hardly counts as a reward to some like myself. I have the mijority of these games, as originals, roms, whatever, and if i wanted to play it on the go, both my DSiXL and Android phone emulate NES and GBA games perfectly, so, meh. Its not like im bothered though, im still glad i got my 3DS on launch.

The majority of the games havnt even been listed yet.

Also, having them illegaly as Roms hardly counts. And while modern phones (and just about anything else) can emulate a GBA perfectly, the controls just wont be anywhere near as good.
Especialy if the phone is pure touchscreen. urg.

No, you are an ambassador.

You really need to wait to hear what games we're getting, im pretty sure we're just gonna be getting the default bests like Mario 1,2,3, zelda, metroid, kid icarus and so on, and like i said, i have most of these, only if they release something obscure will i likely not have it already, and i know it hardly counts, but if i were to go out of my way for these games, id buy the real things, cause just like you and roms, i dont count legitimate downloads either, i would rather the real thing.

And just to say, my phone is a Desire Z, flipout keyboard and i use a Gamegripper overlay, perfection.
