    Shantae: Risky's Revenge Being Ported?

    Update - WayForward has now confirmed a port of the Nintendo DSiWare game Shantae: Risky's Revenge is heading to iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Hope has not been lost for a port to other formats in the future, though.

    Original Story - WayForward has just sent confirmation that Shantae is set to be ported to another platform. Given that there have only been two official releases in the Shantae action platform series, the original Game Boy Color version that Matt Bozon has stated should be heading to the 3DS eShop Virtual Console, and the DSiWare release Shantae: Risky's Revenge, it can be presumed that the latter is set for some porting action, despite being one of the best-selling DSiWare releases so far.

    The above teaser image has been provided, along with the message: "It's time to be mercilessly teased again! Attention Shantae fans! Keep an eye on TouchArcade for a very special announcement, coming soon!"

    Would you like to see Shantae: Risky's Revenge hit retail or be upgraded on one of the other download services, such as WiiWare?

    I've been wanting to pick this up on DSiWare since I got a 3DS. The only reason I haven't picked it up yet is that eShop cards are still nowhere to be found in stores in my country.

    Now I'll be thankful that eShop cards aren't there yet if this port is intended for the 3DS itself, in a enhanced 3DS version maybe ? Hope to read more about this in the near future Smilie, and that the original Shantae indeed comes out on 3DS VC, since that's one of those select few GBC titles that i'd really like to get on the service (since it's one of those awfully expensive games to track down in cartridge format, due to it being rare)

    PS:

    Every 3DS owner should own Shantae: RR, for me it's by far the best title available on eShop. It's quality puts Nintendo's own eProducts to shame. My only issue with the game is the cost - annoyingly just over £10 - forcing you to credit £20. Despite that, I urge everyone to buy it, or at least check it out on Youtube.

    Buying a copy also has an added bonus - it will make your selection screen look sweet, the game has the best icon square so far, a 3D animated belly dancing Shantae that will make you smile.

    I'd happily give the game {9.5}. Shantae: RR is awesome in every aspect - great platforming gameplay, stunningly cute and colourful pixel art, great sound effects, and very catchy music. The whole package is brought together with quirky witty writing.
    Don't be fooled by the cuddly style though, the game is pretty damn tough at times. It reminds me of Donkey Kong C Returns in that respect. It will require all you skill.

    I already have an original boxed copy, still this is fantastic news for the franchise. It's a gem that should be played by all.

    You should have kept yours, Adam, it's worth a little over £200 now, and that's unboxed.

    Well, isn't Touch Arcade and iOS reviews site? If that's the site they want us to keep watching... it's an iPhone/iPad port of Risky's Revenge.

    @EdEN

    Ha, you have a good point there. Shantae could blow up on iPhone. I forsee success if it does arrive on thge platform.

    WiiWare is unlikely.
