Rune Factory US Release Date Confirmed on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Natsume Inc. has announced that Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny, the game that Cubed3 recently previewed stating it will be a game that "you will definitely want to keep tabs on", has gone gold and is set for release on 11th October on both the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.

Set to thoroughly drench players in an exciting adventure, Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny combines the fun and rewarding gameplay of Harvest Moon with the fantasy and excitement of an action-RPG, offering Harvest Moon fans and traditional RPG players the best of both worlds.

We're very excited that owners of both Nintendo and Sony consoles will be able to experience this thrilling new chapter in the Rune Factory saga. Players will explore exotic islands, meet unique new characters, and solve the mystery that has befallen our heroes!
- Hiro Maekawa, President and CEO of Natsume.

Aden and Sonja, two lifelong friends, live a tranquil life on Fenith Island until they're struck by a mysterious curse: they awaken to find both of their souls are now trapped in the same body. On top of this unusual calamity, the Fenith Island they knew is gone, replaced by a strange island populated with unfamiliar faces. However, nothing will sink the spirits of the two friends, and by exploring this new world, they will be able to solve the mystery of their curse and save their beloved island. During the course of their journey, Aden and Sonja will be aided by a colorful cast of characters, as well as take command of a towering golem, Ymir. Using their newfound giant friend, they will cross vast seas, discover hidden islands and dungeons packed with riches, and battle fearsome monsters of the deep.

Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny will be available for sale on 11th October. Currently there is still no word on a European release, although rumours point towards an early 2012 launch being possible.

Having been able to play and preview this, Tides of Destiny is a cracking mix of simulation and RPG. Seems appealing to just about anyone who would like a game to keep coming back to, in the vain of Animal Crossing. Obviously for Harvest Moon fans it's the next step up too. Really hope this gets localised for Europe.

I think it will cross the 'Ocean' Smilie On Wii, though? Hmm...

You reckon it'll be pushed to Wii U? Or just a PS3-only release here?

Smilie Errr, why? I know Harvest Moon games have had success on PlayStation over the years, but no more than on Nintendo, surely? Seems odd that after all the HM and Rune Factory on Nintendo recently, this would be PS3 exclusive.

Or... is this a case of Sony entering an agreement and publishing the game here..? You sound like you know more than you're letting on mate!

I sound like someone that isn't meant to talk about anything Smilie

From an outside point of view, the PS3 market is sturdier than the Wii one right now, and sadly RFF didn't do very well on Wii here, and neither did the first two RF games on DS. I'm not saying the Wii version won't come, because nothing's confirmed. However, if Marvelous charges a high licence fee for the Wii version and sales of RFF don't instill confidence that the sequel will do much better, then from a business stance it might seem like a waste of money.

Never looked into sales figures so if that's what it comes down to, fair enough. Was somewhat assuming them putting out 3 RF games on DS was an indication they were doing quite well... I guess not! Well, if it doesn't make it here, there's always importing!

So first European Wii owners don't get Tales of Graces and now we likely won't get this game either? Lame. Good thing I just picked up RFF then...
