Square Enix Planning Nanashi no Game Prequel? on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Japanese giant Square Enix has recently filed a trademark that has set alarm bells ringing for fans of the highly-praised first person survival horror, Nanashi no Game (The Game with no Name).

Nanashi no Aru Pre, which roughly translates to A Certain Pre- Without a Name, bears a strong resemblance to the Nintendo DS game's title, with the Pre- part possibly suggesting a prequel.

Nanashi no Game gained a cult following and saw a sequel on the DS. The cursed video game you play through in the original also released on DSiWare. Unfortunately, these were only released in Japan. Perhaps a prequel could be the start of bringing the series over to the West.

I certainly hope this comes out for 3DS. I'm currently playing through the first game with the English fan translation and it's as scary as it was when I first played it. The use of 3D sound when using headphones is fantastic and the scare effects are chilling. A truly great game and a dying shame the potential US release was canned due to poor user group feedback.
