Rumour: Sonic Dimensions for Wii U?

With Sonic Generations speeding to the HD consoles and a certain 3D handheld in the next month or so, talk has arisen regarding the Blue Hedgehog's next outing. And if tssz news's sources are worthy, Wii U could be seeing a juicy exclusive.

According to the site, the next Sonic game will be entitled Sonic Dimensions, taking place after Generations, and deemed the spiritual sequel to Colours. The plotline will follow Dr Eggman's usual crazy schemes, this time messing around with the Space-time continuum, which not only affects Sonic's planet, but the blue blur himself. Because of this, Sonic will split into 5 different personalities of himself, each with a different colour and ability (seemingly taking the place of the wisp abilities in Colours).

Red Sonic can open up areas by making use of explosions, but can't leap as high and is slower. Yellow Sonic (not Super Sonic) is the fastest, but takes damage easily. Purple Sonic will channel Silver's spirit and be able to float and move platforms. The Orange personality is the slower one until powered up. White Sonic will act like a Super Guide and only appear after a certain number of deaths in a stage, though using him guarantees a lower rank at the end.

What will undoubtedly grab the attention of Sonic Sceptics is the rumour of Nintendo themselves assisting Sega with design in the game, as well as Sega reuniting nearly the entire Sonic Colours development team for Dimensions. This direct involvement suggests the game would be an exclusive to Nintendo's next generation device, as would talk of the game making heavy use of up to 4 Wii U Pads (meaning Nintendo has gotten more than 2 working with the machine).

Adding to the site's credibility is their accurate reporting on Sonic Generations 6 months before it was unveiled, so there could easily be a lot of truth to this.

I do like the idea in some ways and it does sound a likely one based on Colours. Would like to see SEGA port Generations over though, should be a simple job and would keep the fans happy!

SOunds really interesting. It goes on to say that the other characters will also split meaning a boss fight with an evil Amy mad at the constant rejections and a good Eggman who will help Sonic.

It also says they want crazy level ideas like in Colours. They point at Music Plant in Sonic Advance 2 as a stage that may get reused. It all sounds too good and one I hope is true so long as they don't mess up the alternate gameplay styles. At least keep standard Sonic Unleashed/Classic gameplay in there.

so it's back to catering to the classic sonic fans again..............Damn you SEGA why are you ignoring those who don't want to play just as sonic?

I let it slide in SG because ya'll were pleasing everybody but now it's back to the shitty Colors gameplay. That's not fair

Nintendo would score massive goals if they united with Sega in console and game business. Sega was my all time favourite and Nintendo just lacks few things to be that good. But if they were working together, Sony and Microsoft would get hurt a lot.

You are SO right about that!
Nintendo and Sega working together is a team no better.
They've already made progress in that Mario and Sonic are all in one game.
However, things could get VERY interesting if Nintendo and Sega begin to collaborate.
Because Sony and Microsoft will smart up and team up...however, it makes the video game industry ten times more interesting!
Though, I have very little hope in this comning true...

Whoever the author is needs to do his research better, the Wii U can use four of the tablet based controllers. The thing is that you most likely can't order the tablet separately, from what I know they're quite high-end technical devices.

I don't think it's ever been confirmed the Wii U can use 4 tablet pads at the same time. That's why so many of us are all happy about this rumour, otherwise we'd all have known about it by now. If it's true, it's certainly not common knowledge yet. And if you're saying you can't buy a tablet pad separately, you're saying you're relying on other people buying the console and bringing their pads round to play with you. That would be a terrible idea.

I'm surprised that people would want a Nintendo/Sega team up.... lets be honest... look at Monolith Soft... sheesh I still cannot buy Xenoblade in the US with the Wii's current week line up. I wouldn't want Sega under the control of something like that... at least Sega had the balls to let Valkyria Chronicles out of Japan the first time.

Yep Sega + Nintendo would = we only get Sonic which = a nightmare as I like the other Sega titles too.

This is fine as long as Wii U sees games like Bayonetta and Vanquish as well.

As its a new console I would have to buy the system for the game, I hope this is wrong, at least the Nintendo part, I hope its multiplatform.

If this is true, then it will once again put Sonic back into the dark depths it has just came from. Stick with what made it cool.

Wait...Does this means that Scourge may appear in a game?I mean,Sonic's anti-self from another dimension is Scourge and there's no Green Sonic,so will be him who free Dr.Eggman from the white place,or will it be another evil version of one of Sonic's friends?
