Silicon Knights to Refocus On One of Its Most Requested Titles on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Silicon Knights, famed developer of Eternal Darkness and Too Human have taken major cuts to their staff last week, after an anonymous publishing partner the company was working with pulled out on their latest project. Fortunately, that project is still under development and they plan on finding another partner to publish it.

Something interesting though is the the fact that Silicon Knights want to focus on their roots, with the company refocusing on one of its most requested titles for the next generation. Could this be a return to Eternal Darkness? After all, last year Nintendo trademarked the title again, spawning rumours of a return. After taking this into consideration, there's the question of whether it could come to Wii U and perhaps even be a launch title for the system.

The prospect is certainly exciting.

Hope so. Loved ED. Played it through on all three paths consecutively to get the hidden ending. Would be great if Nintendo worked with them to make it happen.

I'd like to see it. It was a good game and had potential for the future as well. Personally I think I'd prefer a 3DS version to WiiU though.

I just completed pokemon yellow! 151 pokemon seen and caught.
Surely that's worth a star?

I dunno, while a 3DS vers would be great, the Wii U needs titles like this to set it out from the crowd.

Would be better on WiiU but if they had to fire some of their employees recently, then it must mean their financial situation isn't very good at the moment, and they might want to focus on titles that don't require a giant budget, which HD games require.

A 3DS game might be more in line with they're capable of financing at the moment ? (That's all speculation of course)

That's why it would be ideal for Nintendo to work with them if they need the extra manpower to do a Wii U title. I can see them collaborating, maybe even with another company too, kinda like how Konami, Nintendo and Silicon put a few together to do MGS Twin Snakes. Possible.

They've acquired a new, currently anonymous partner, and that partner may be a company all of us are very familiar with.

They also lost far less employees than were initially reported by sites - 40 rather than 70.

Eternal Darkness would rock!

I don't think the old one has aged particularly well, but it's such a fantastic game that you can look past that. If it was brought up to date, that would just be incredible! The gameplay of the first was enjoyable (and the insanity meter was genius), but there's room to improve.

If it was a launch title, it'd get the attention it deserves while also helping to dispel Nintendo's "kiddy"/"casual" image right at the start of the new generation.

What bother now? The first ED was great,, but the Silicon Knights of 2011 can't make a decent game.

I'd rather no sequel, than get some crappy one. Too little, too late SK.

Oh MAN I HOPE SO!! This was one of the VERY few games that scared the crap out of me while playing in well light areas!! Please let it be 3DS or Wii U exclusive!!!!

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422

Well considering it's Nintendo property I see no reason for it not to be a 3DS or Wii U exclusive.
