The Music in Zelda Radiates Beauty and Nostalgia on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo have popped a look at the behind the scenes for the recording of the limited edition Legend of Zelda anniversary CD.

The anthology of Zelda melodies is taken from over a quarter of a century of princess saving, treasure hunting, Goron rolling love forged by franchise composer Koji Kondo. Themes from Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time and various other notable entries in the series.

Tracks from The upcoming series opener Skyward Sword have also spun up online and are certainly worth a listen.

I've not listened to it (and won't till I get the game), but apparently the menu music is meant to be amazing.

Haven't yet listened to all the tracks, but still excellent besides. That said it is a shame not all of it is orchestrated/recorded with real instruments like Galaxy, or, well it sounds like some aren't done with that same rich sound in mind.

A few months ago I already noticed that some of the music wasn't orchestrated. It sounded like the same old midi. =/

To be fair, Super Mario Galaxy had some midi stuff too and some of it was mixed with the orchestra. I have no problem with it not being "fully" orchestrated, I never expected it to be. I'd imagine most of the more subtle tracks will be midi, like when inside a shop perhaps (not really important music needed).

Either way, the soundtrack will likely be great.

I too don't think everything has to be orchestrated and grand, but what I would prefer from all of Nintendo's main efforts is to have songs recorded with real instruments, with proper synths, percussion etc. Midi just seems so dated imo, and strips the mood right down by today's standards!

I've listened to a few tracks already and my god.... *jizzes pants*. Beautiful.

Awe, that rendition of the main theme made me cry a bit!!!

Oh, in a good way of course.

Listened to the main theme medley on NintendoVideo and I absolutely loved it. Can't wait to listen to the rest of the CD.

I am like Marzy and I'm not going to listen to the SS tracks until I've played the game for myself. Not long to go now people. 1 WEEK! Smilie

EDIT: I have heard a little bit of the romance theme though and I loved that.
