Play Classic Super Mario Using a Tennis Racket on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Ever wanted to play classic Super Mario Bros levels using a tennis racket? Well now you can with Nintendo's latest 3DS offering.

This nifty new feature isn't the result of fan game modding, rather it's a mode playable in Mario Tennis Open. Break bricks, pound blocks and take down Koopas and Goomba in familiar 2D settings, all whilst getting a good racket workout.

Also bundled in this latest sporting championship is the ability to fully customise your Mii characters, nip online for competitive matches and try out a handful of tricky courts.

Nintendo is serving up a slice of classic Mushroom Kingdom tennis action on May 20th in North America and the 25th in Europe.

Everything about this looks brilliant. Bright and colourful, cool courts from Mario Galaxy etc, buy gear, online play. Super Mario Tennis looks bloody good fun, too. The only thing I'd have to complain about is no RPG mode. That's what made Camelot's GBA tennis and golf games so good. Real shame to omit it from what looks to be one of the best Mario Tennis games yet. RPG mode would have made it instant no. 1.

Hope you can decorate players like Mario and Yoshi in new outfits, and not just the Miis. Get tired of seeing Mario in his work gear when he's playing sports!

I would definitely agree Az - the GBA/GBC Mario Tennis games had the perfect setup - same great gameplay with the RPG re-playability. Definitely should have had it, especially for a portable outing. Other than that, bit of a Power Tour rehash imo..

Wow I didn't even consider getting this game but after watching that I must say it looks very cool indeed, I might pick it, will there be a demo on eshop first?
