Speaking to Develop magazine, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto revealed an uncertainty about a F-Zero revival.
Whilst being quizzed about a possible Link to the Past remake, the magazine popped the question: Just what is Nintendo's stance on the popular futuristic racer, F-Zero and whether there would be a new version in the works - especially with the series' absence on the Wii, DS and 3DS so far.
He confessed - perhaps one of the reasons why there hasn't been a new entry in so long was that there isn't a "similar surprise" to when the original games came out on the current hardware line-up.
That said, with the Wii U on the way, he did offer some hope for fans that with the newer technology, "we could create something that does make sense, either as a smaller game, or a fully fledged title."
The last F-Zero games were GP-Legend for Game Boy Advance in 2004 and a Japan-exclusive Climax in the same year.
Would you like to see a new F-Zero game on the Wii U or 3DS? Does a game need a "surprise factor" to justify a new version?
